Latest Update - October 2008
We've spent a wonderful few weeks in the backwaters of Fiji. For the latest news, click here.
Angus has been busy uploading videos - learn how to make coconut cream, enjoy the early morning Samoan police parade, and best of all, an improved quality video from the Pacific Arts Festival - see here.
The sharp eyed amongst you may have noticed a change in our logo at the top left hand corner of this window. Gone are the "Do It" code flags, replaced by our turtle. We have been seeking inspiration for a logo since we left, then recently the idea of a turtle struck us. Like the turtle, we are hard chined, travel large distances, and as in the fable of "The Hare and the Tortoise", we are not a slow as some think!
A diary of the rest of our adventures so far can be found through the Logs button on the left of this page.
The Potted Introduction
This is the story of our lifetime aspiration to conduct a world cruise as a couple on our own sailing yacht 'Do It'. Our ambition was created by reading in various UK sailing magazines about those out there currently "Doing It" (hang on to that phrase, it is relevant as you will see shortly) and crystallised in 1998 by some health issues. Having made the decision to 'do it', most of our activities since were geared towards the goal of setting off in April 2005. From the purchase of our training boat (a delightful Westerly Merlin named Emerillon - now sadly sold) to the saving of every penny we can (which flowed out of our bank accounts like water as we approached the start date), we lived this ambition.
This website gives some idea of the yacht, the planning, the intended route, and now we have set off - logs of the legs sailed.
